Walden Takes Home 1st and 2nd Place!!! Walden Takes Home 1st and 2nd Place!!!

Last Friday, the 7th and 8th graders went to Lyndon Institute for the bridge building competition that saw over 200 students from schools all around VT test the strength of their bridges. We are so excited to announce that Karli and Sophie took 1st Place overall! Their bridge held an astounding 1,278 lbs! Amazingly, we had another team from Walden School, Owen, Sam, Robbie and Camden, take 2nd place overall. Their bridge held a whopping 1,148 lbs! Mrs. Russell and Mr. Irwin provided the students with a great learning experience and the students hard work, teamwork, research and knowledge really proved to be the piece that "bridged" the gap to their success (pun intended!).

Walden School's 2nd Annual Egg Hunt Walden School's 2nd Annual Egg Hunt

Thanks to Miss Victoria, who tirelessly stuffed hundreds of eggs and then hid them for every class, all the students got to once again enjoy the hunt for Easter eggs today. We started the tradition last year and the students were so excited to do it again this year. Every class had the opportunity to hunt for the golden egg that had bigger prizes like being Miss Pam's helper to cook for the day, lunch with Mr. Fontana, a half hour with your friends and Mr. O and popsicle or ice cream parties!

8th Grade Northwoods Experience 8th Grade Northwoods Experience

Walden School was selected to participate in the NorthWoods and VREC 8th Grade Leadership Connection May 8th, 2023. This is an opportunity for our 8th graders to explore the natural world, reimagine leadership, and connect with other 8th graders. The program will be hosted at NorthWoods Stewardship Center in East Charleston - with both indoor and outdoor time planned.

The schedule for this event is arrival at 9:00am and departure at 1:30pm. We will be joined by Burke and Sutton 8th graders.

Event Information

The "Writing is on the Wall"

All are invited to come join our writing celebration! Read the hundreds of writing samples and see different projects, like the middle school bridges, that will be up on the walls and on the tables of the multi-purpose room. We will hear from CCSUCurriculum Director, Des Hertz, about our Federally Grant fundedTitle services and enjoy free pizza and snacks. Our 7th & 8th graders will also be making desert pizza and possibly a few other treats in the outdoor bread oven for this great community building event. We hope to see as many parents and community members as possible to help showcase the hard work students have been doing in writing throughout the year!

A Couple Things to Remember A Couple Things to Remember

  • Please do not park on the corner of the driveway at pick up/ drop off, as Sabrina, the bus driver, can't fit by you.
  • Sabrina would also like parents to remember that students need to be outside at their stop 5 minutes ahead of time for pick up in the morning.

Thank you so much for helping our transportation to run smoothly!
