Message From Principal Ludford
Dear Beaubien Families,
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our entire community for the incredible support during our 10th Annual Read-A-Thon! We are so fortunate to be part of such a dedicated and generous village. I am thrilled to share that this yearâs Read-A-Thon was incredibly successful. Our students had a blast with daily school-wide read-alouds featuring special guest readers. A huge thank you to our staff for making it such a fun week, and a special shout-out to the Read-A-Thon committeeâMs. Arroyo, Mr. Graham, Ms. Hansen, Ms. Nieves and Ms. Slaiwa for their leadership and hard work in making this special event happen.
On a more personal note, I have some bittersweet news to share with our community. Our Assistant Principal, Mr. Lukic, will be moving on to a new chapter in his life. Mr. Lukic has made a lasting impact on Beaubien. Whether he was cheering on students in the hallways, helping a child through a tough day, or jumping in to read aloud during our Read-A-Thon, his genuine care for our kids was always on display. He has truly shaped our school culture through his unwavering dedication to our studentsâ success and well-being. I am so grateful for the hard work and heart he has poured into Beaubien every single day. He will be missed.
Please take a moment to read his personal letter to our community, included below.
In other community news, the Family Jam is taking place today at the Irish Heritage Center from 12:00 to 6:00. A big thank you to Matt Corcoran and his team for all their hard work to make this happen. The lineup of musicians looks incredible, and I know it is sure to be a great time for all!
As we move into March, our 3rdâ8th grade students will begin the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) and our 5th & 8th grade students will additionally take the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) from March 3rd through March 13th. These assessments help us track academic growth and ensure our school is aligned with state standards in ELA and Math. Your childâs homeroom teacher will share a specific schedule soon, but here is how you can help them prepare:
- Attendance and Rest: Ensure your child is at school on time and gets a full nightâs sleep.
- Nutrition: A healthy breakfast is key! We will continue to offer breakfast at school daily.
- Mindset: Remind your child to ask for clarification on directions if needed and encourage them to simply do their best.
- Confidence: Let them know you have full confidence in their ability to work hard.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas. I truly value our partnership, and my door is always open to you.
Warm Regards,
Michelle H. Ludford, Principal
Message from Mr. Lukic
Dear Beaubien Community,
I am writing to share some bittersweet personal news. My family and I are relocating to Michigan, and as a result, my last day serving this incredible school will be May 8th.
This transition is especially emotional for me because my connection to this school runs so deep. Long before I had the privilege of being the vice principal, I walked these very same halls as a student. To have grown up in this community, and then to have had the opportunity to come back and serve it, has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
Beaubien has always been a truly special place, and that is entirely because of the people. To our families, thank you for your unwavering partnership and the trust you place in our team every day. To the students, watching you learn, grow, and fill this building with energy has been a constant source of joy and inspiration.
As I prepare for my familyâs next chapter over the next couple of months, my priority will be ensuring a seamless transition behind the scenes so that our staff and students remain fully supported.
I will always be a proud Beaubien alum, and I leave knowing this school will continue to thrive and achieve amazing things. Thank you all for making this community such a wonderful place to learn, to work, and to call home.
Warmly,
Nikola Lukic, Assistant Principal

Check your Headphones - Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
Hello Beaubien Families, we need your help. This March, each 3rd through 8th grader will take the IAR. Part of the assessment requires headphones, and we have a very limited school supply of extra headphones for emergencies.
It would be a great help if you could check in with your student to see if they have working headphones.
Thank you!

All Around Beaubien
Student Leadership Day
Today, ten Beaubien Bulldogs participated the Illinois Holocaust Museumâs annual Student Leadership Day. It was a unique opportunity to practice public speaking, networking, and collaboration.
They designed human rights slogans and symbols, created a campaign to raise awareness, completed a virtual tour featuring a Holocaust survivor, and practiced creative writing with Harold Green III, a poet and musician.
Way to go, Bulldogs!
âď¸Beaubien Chess News
Last weekend the Beaubien Chess Team had another great showing at the 2026 Greater Chicago Championship at McCormick Place. Led by Sophia A (4th place finish) and Sai A (8th place finish), the K-6 team tied for first place in the reserve section and Rishik P placed 5th in the K-8 individual section. Congratulations on the outstanding gameplay!
Also proudly competing for Beaubien were Krishiv A, Omar A, Aiden B, Keira C, Grace G, Hiroto I, Abraham I, Adarsh K, Samuel M, Veekshith N and Yeshwin N. It was a long day where each and every Beaubien chess player dug deep to solve many tactical and positional challenges.
Yesterday, the Beaubien Chess team competed in CPS Academic Chess Elementary Northside Playoffs! Special congratulations to Sai A. for earning the third place individual trophy and advancing to the championship round! Also competing were Krishiv A, Omar A, Grace G, Hiroto I, and Adarsh K.
