Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!
Week of September 29, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Converse ES All-Star Community,
It was so great to see so many of our Converse ES All Stars at our Open House last week! Thank you for taking the time to come out and meet our teachers and staff. We truly loved seeing all of our families on campus and are excited about a great school year of Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!
A friendly reminder that there will be no school on Monday, September 29, as our campus will be closed for a staff professional development day.
Looking ahead, we're excited to start our clubs and assemblies this week (Friday). We're looking forward to building community and having fun with all our students!
Mark your calendars for our Spooky Science Night on October 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We'll have more details coming soon, but we hope to see you there for a night of spooky fun and learning.
Thank you again for your incredible support.
Sincerely,
Miriam Huerta
Converse ES Principal

Communicating With Your Child's Teacher
We know there are many times when you have questions or concerns for your child's teacher. Here's how you can reach them:
1. Call the school at 210-945-1210 and leave a message for the teacher to call you back. The message will be passed on to the teacher by the front office staff.
2. Email the teacher. Email addresses for staff can be found here: https://converse.judsonisd.org/staff
3. Message the teacher in the Judson ISD app.
4. Write a note to the teacher and send it to school in your child's folder.
You can expect a response from the teacher by the end of the next school day, at the latest. For example, if you call on Friday, you should hear back from the teacher by the end of the day on Monday. Remember that our teachers spend most of their day with students, so please be patient. Between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, they only have a short time without students to respond.
If you do not hear back from the teacher or you still have concerns after contacting the teacher, use the attached steps to help you know who to contact.

Character Trait of the Month
Throughout the year, staff will be recognizing students who demonstrate different character traits each month. At the end of each month, teachers will select one student from their class who has best exemplified that month's trait to be celebrated and awarded a certificate in recognition of their character.
October's Character Trait: Courage
Courage isn't the absence of fear; it's the willingness to act despite feeling fear or uncertainty. For children, everyday courage looks like:
Trying something new (like a challenging math problem).
Admitting a mistake or apologizing.
Speaking up or standing up for what's right.
Trying again after a setback or disappointment.
Help your child practice everyday courage with these simple steps:
Validate, then Encourage: Acknowledge their fear ("It sounds like you're nervous"), but shift the focus to action ("It's okay to be nervous, let's practice it together anyway!").
Focus on Effort, Not Outcome: Praise the courageous act of trying, regardless of the result. Use language like, "I'm so proud of you for having the courage to try out," or "It took guts to raise your hand and give it a shot!"
Share Your Own Courage: Share age-appropriate examples of when you had to step out of your comfort zone or apologize for a mistake.
