Dear PTA Members,

Happy New Year! Each new year offers a moment to reflect, and this one is especially meaningful for me as I begin my final six months as superintendent of Frisco ISD.

Over the past nine years in this role, I have been privileged to work alongside dedicated educators, staff, and volunteers who care deeply about students. I am especially grateful for you. Your commitment to your campuses and to Frisco ISD plays a vital role in the success of our schools and the experience we provide families.

As I reflect, I am also excited about what’s ahead. Today, applications are open for Access Frisco and Frisco Flex, expanding opportunities for students across the state and neighboring districts to access Frisco ISD’s A-rated education.

With more educational choices available than ever before, sharing the Frisco ISD story matters. One way you can help is by leaving a review on platforms such as Niche and GreatSchools, where families often look when considering school options. Your perspective helps highlight what makes our campuses special.

Hello Frisco ISD Families,

Happy 2026! We hope that you and your family had a wonderful winter break. Our Council has been working hard to provide programs for our families this year.

In December, we hosted our Reflections Art Show with the theme “I Belong,” showcasing 317 entries from talented Frisco ISD students. Thank you to all of our local PTAs that participated in this program and to all of our families who attended the Art Show. We hope that you enjoyed this event. It is amazing how one prompt can generate so much creativity! Best of luck to all the students advancing to state-level judging!

Our next event is the Straight Talk Watch Party on Tuesday, February 24th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Scottish Rite Frisco. This year’s topic is “Raising the AI Generation: From homework to unforeseen risks. What every parent should know.” First, we will watch an hour-long recording of a panel discussion organized by Texas PTA. Afterwards, Cheryl McDonald, FISD Chief Technology Officer, and Ashley Nelson, FISD Managing Director of Digital Learning, will share their perspective and take questions from parents. We hope that you can join us for this unique learning opportunity!

We currently have 21,118 PTA members, and we need your help to reach our goal of 25,000 members this year. Anyone can join their school PTA at joinpta.org, and if you would like to support two or more PTAs, you can purchase a community package or pick your favorite PTAs on our Membership District Initiative Website. A special thank you to our Advocate Members, Dr. Waldrip and Dr. Fouche, for joining all 73 PTAs in Frisco ISD.

I am looking forward to all of the fun educational programs, family engagement activities, and

celebrations that our PTAs are providing this Spring. Thank you for your dedication!

An in-person community input session will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the FISD Administration Building, 5515 Ohio Drive. No RSVP needed. Each session lasts 45 minutes.

10 am & 11 am - PTAs, Boosters, Civic Organizations, City Leadership
1 pm & 2 pm - Central Administration, Directors and Support Staff
4 pm & 5 pm - Campus Faculty and Staff
6 pm & 7 pm - Community

A Special Election to fill a vacancy on the Frisco City Council (Place 1) will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026. The winning candidate will complete the remaining term of office through May of 2027.

Texas PTA provides a PTA Votes Toolkit to support local PTAs with voter education, reminders, and outreach activities. This toolkit can be used alongside candidate forums and other advocacy efforts.

We now have 21,118 Members supporting our 73 PTAs throughout Frisco ISD! We're at 84% of our membership goal for the 2025-2026 school year! Each membership helps our community advocate for students and educators in our community - so thank you to all our members!

We need 3,716 Members to help us reach our membership goal this school year!

If you'd like to join multiple local PTAs, visit friscopta.org/supporters. This is a great option for those with multiple students or even those that want to support their feeder schools too! All MDI Members will be featured on our "Membership Supporters Wall" and at our Council Delegate meetings throughout the year.

SAVE THE DATE - STRAIGHT TALK '26

Texas PTA Straight Talk '26: Raising the AI Generation

This year's Straight Talk will explore how artificial intelligence is shaping classrooms, student well-being, and future workforce readiness. From homework help to unforeseen risks, a panel of experts will share practical guidance, responsible-use considerations, and real-world implications for families.

We will be hosting a Watch Party at 10:00 am on February 24th at Scottish Rite Frisco. We will watch the recorded program, have snacks, and hear from our very own Frisco ISD technology experts. Stay tuned for more information!

CANDIDATE FORUMS - START PLANNING NOW

With the March 2026 primaries approaching, now is the time for local PTAs to plan candidate forums for State Senate and House Districts. Forums play an important role in educating our PTA members, as well as helping candidates understand public education priorities before they take office.

Texas PTA's Candidate Forum Toolkit is available to help PTAs:

Host Senate or House district forums ahead of the March primaries.
Follow non-partisan, PTA-compliant guidelines.
Create welcoming spaces for informed civic engagement.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Frisco Threads has provided essential clothing and shoes to over 700 students so far this school year!

🤝 1. Volunteer With Us

We need volunteers to help us continue serving students in our community! Join us on Mondays and Thursdays to sort donations, organize clothing, and serve families. We especially need help on Thursdays! 👉 Sign Up to Volunteer Here

👕 2. Wear It Forward Partnership

We continue to partner with Wear It Forward, a student-led organization that will pick up your donations and deliver them directly to Frisco Threads. If you can’t drop off items during our regular hours, simply sign up through their form, and they’ll handle the rest 👉 Wear It Forward Donation Pickup Form

👚 3. Donate Clothing

We’re accepting donations every Monday and Thursday from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. 👉 Check our website for our most-needed items and to access our Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Target wishlists.
