CTE Spotlight
CTE AT DAVID CROCKETT: LEARN IT. BUILD IT. USE IT.
David Crockett High School’s CTE programs provide students with opportunities to learn through hands-on projects, industry-connected skills, collaboration, and real-world problem solving. From the Health Sciences Department and Mrs. Clark’s Physical Therapy Technician program to Welding, Construction, Electrical, and other skilled-trade pathways, students are learning skills that prepare them for college, careers, certifications, and the workforce.
Big things happen when CTE programs work together! Students and instructors at David Crockett High School collaborated to create new equipment for Mrs. Clark’s Physical Therapy Technician class in the Health Sciences Department, including a ramp, steps, and adjustable parallel bars. Mr. Lewis’s first-year students helped construct the ramp and steps, while Mr. Gardner’s Welding students used their fabrication skills to create sturdy, adjustable parallel bars with smooth hand grips. The finished equipment will help future PT Tech students practice ambulation, assistive-device skills, mobility, and activities of daily living. This project is a powerful example of CTE in action—students learning by doing, collaborating across programs, and building something that will benefit others for years to come!
