October 20th: Senior ACT Testing Day

Seniors will take the ACT Retake on October 20th.

Seniors will have an opportunity to participate in an ACT bootcamp Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week during 3rd period. Students who attend all 3 sessions will get an ice cream social after the ACT test.

October 20th: Practice ACT Day: 9th-11th Grade

9th Graders (Class of 2030), 10th Graders (Class of 2029), and 11th Graders (Class of 2028) will participate in a practice ACT to prepare for the real test on April 6th, 2027.

To help our students understand the format and requirements of the ACT, as well as add some competition, each grade level will be competing against one another with the highest scoring grade-level getting an ice cream party for the entire grade-level.

The losing grade-levels will still be able to compete amongst themselves for a class pizza party.

One entire grade level will get an ice cream party (approximately 250 students).

One class from each of the losing grade levels will get a pizza party (approximately 50 students).

9th-11th Grade Testing Information

  • Students will be separated by grade-level and last name into individual classrooms.
  • Students will have the first 30 minutes of each subpart to work independently with no talking or group work.
  • Students will use the remaining time to work together as a group to submit group answers for each of the questions.
  • The teacher in each of the classrooms will submit one Google Form for each of the classes with the answers that the students have chosen.
  • Mrs. Phebus and Mrs. Clark will look at the test information and scores and name one grade-level as the winner of the ice cream party and one class at the losing grade-levels for the pizza party.

CTE Spotlight CTE Spotlight

CTE AT DAVID CROCKETT: LEARN IT. BUILD IT. USE IT.

David Crockett High School’s CTE programs provide students with opportunities to learn through hands-on projects, industry-connected skills, collaboration, and real-world problem solving. From the Health Sciences Department and Mrs. Clark’s Physical Therapy Technician program to Welding, Construction, Electrical, and other skilled-trade pathways, students are learning skills that prepare them for college, careers, certifications, and the workforce.

Big things happen when CTE programs work together! Students and instructors at David Crockett High School collaborated to create new equipment for Mrs. Clark’s Physical Therapy Technician class in the Health Sciences Department, including a ramp, steps, and adjustable parallel bars. Mr. Lewis’s first-year students helped construct the ramp and steps, while Mr. Gardner’s Welding students used their fabrication skills to create sturdy, adjustable parallel bars with smooth hand grips. The finished equipment will help future PT Tech students practice ambulation, assistive-device skills, mobility, and activities of daily living. This project is a powerful example of CTE in action—students learning by doing, collaborating across programs, and building something that will benefit others for years to come!
