Teacher Mini Grant Application
Grading Update-Action Item
Teachers, we hope that most schedule changes are now complete. If you have been holding off on entering grades into the gradebook, no problem, now is the time to put those scores in. Our school guidelines around entering grades are that assignments scores should be input within 5 business days of the due date for regular assignments and 10 school days for major projects that take extra time to grade. With this in mind, make sure that any regular assignments turned in on or before August 19 or major assignments due on or before August 12 are entered into your gradebook by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 26. Thank you!
AM/PM Student Procedure Update
- Band and Orchestra students who need to drop off their instruments in the morning must do so at the end of "holding time."
- These students may also pick up their instruments during PM dismissal.
- Students who participate in CMS extramurals or clubs will be dismissed when first load buses are called. This also includes Roswell Jr. Hornets Flag Football Players who will meet their coach at the flag pool after first load buses have been called.

Media Center Update
- Media Center Spaces - Reservations: If you want to use the amphitheater, MC classroom space, or MC small group rooms, please email me your request. I will send you a calendar invite with the reservation.
- Devices for Checkout: I have TWO devices for student checkout right now. Students will need a pass to come to the Media Center to check one out period by period. I also have 3 desktops that can be used in here. Please be conscientious about sending students to use the desktops or loaners – especially if they just forgot their device at home that day. Ask yourself: Does this student really need to use a computer to complete this work right now?
- Student Printing Requests: If you have students who need to print items for your class, please compile all images for each class period onto one document to share with me for printing. Do not send individual students for printing unless there is literally only one student who needs it printed.
- Book Fair: The CMS Book Fair will take place from 9/22-9/26. Students will visit the Book Fair via their World Language or Reading class. Thank you for your support!!!
Orchestra Update
Congratulations to CMS Orchestra 8th Grade Students Michael Collier, Kayden Than and Ian Thompson for passing the audition and receiving acceptance to the Fulton County Youth Orchestra!
PBIS Update
Repeat & Still Relevant Information Below
Dress Code:
We will continue enforcing our dress code. We want to be consistent, but reasonable. If you have a student you think may be out of dress code, but you aren’t sure-ask a teammate or an administrator to weigh in as we are all learning what to enforce.
Remember, students are to be sent to the ISS room to get a change of clothes. At dismissal, please send them back to ISS to change again and return the borrowed clothes. If the student is a bus rider, they should leave their backpack in their 8th period class and return to 8th period after they change. This is so they don’t wander.
Lockers:
Remember-all students should have been assigned a locker on. Students may no longer carry backpacks throughout the day. If you have a child who needs a backpack for a medical, or other reason. The school counselors are issuing yellow backpack tags that will be placed on the backpack of students who have approval to carry their bag.
Attendance:
We need to start marking students tardy. If a student is coming to class well after the halls have cleared and other students have been in class, especially if you know it’s not due to a locker issue or distance between classes, mark them tardy in IC.
FCS AI Statement
Fulton County Schools is committed to being a leader in the ethical and responsible use of AI in our schools and classrooms.
Action: As such, all secondary teachers must update their syllabi to include the revised ‘FY26 required AI syllabus statement:
Responsible AI Use Encouraged with Teacher Permission:
Students are encouraged to use AI tools responsibly in this course with teacher permission to assist with their learning and assignments. AI can serve as an aid to enhance understanding and interaction with course content, within the boundaries of academic integrity. All AI-generated content must be accurately cited, and students are responsible for the correctness of their submissions, including any content derived from AI tools. It is essential to critically evaluate AI outputs to ensure they meet academic standards. Use of generative AI, without proper citation, is considered a violation of the Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct and may result in disciplinary action.
FCS Vanguard New Member Application
