Parkview Golf Season Comes to an End Parkview Golf Season Comes to an End

They say golf can be a cruel sport. Yesterday, the boys' golf team experienced an emotional rollercoaster, falling to Mill Creek for the 4th, and final postseason spot by one shot. Four teams were bunched together going into the final two holes, with only 2 shots separating #2-#5. We were tied with Mill Creek entering the last group. Their #1 golfer had to birdie the hole to knock us out, and that's exactly what he did, sinking a 7-foot putt to secure their post-season spot in the sectional tournament.

The team shot an amazing 312 as a team, 25 shots better than our performance last year in the Area Tournament.

Congratulations to the following players who earned their spot on the Area team:

Trace Wood (+2 = 74)

Greg Hart (+6 = 78)

Avery Brown (+8 = 80)

Brad Schreck (+9 = 81)

Landen Young (+16 = 88)

Danny Haussig (+20 = 92)

The girls had a great season as well, showing constant improvement throughout the year & we were very young (2 freshmen & 2 sophomores). Aubrey Cooper led the way and was the only golfer to make the cut at the turn, a huge improvement from last year. Pernilla Barrera-Weinert, Kiley Wade, and Madison Parkhurst all had a solid round on a difficult course, but were resilient, nonetheless. Congratulations to the girls on a great season

SAVE/SADD conducted its annual Prom Promise campaign leading up to Prom. They had trivia with prizes and a banner signing. Well over 100 students signed a pledge to not drink and drive and make good decisions on that special night. For more inspiration to make good choices, 3 of our cluster elementary schools wrote positive, affirming cards and letters to our Prom-goers. They were on display at all lunches and at Prom.

SAVE/SADD would like to send a giant thank you to Camp Creek, Knight, and Mountain Park for sending amazing messages to our students. They loved ALL the notes, and they hope to team up with everyone again next year! The messages made a difference.

Parking Reminders Parking Reminders

PHS Parking
zoom_out_map

As the school year winds down, we want to share a few reminders about parking on campus and visitors to campus.

  • Only vehicles with a parking decal may park in the numbered spots on campus. You must have a tag or you will be ticketed. Parents and students, please be aware that empty parking spots in the lots does not mean that it is open for anyone to park in. All of our parking spaces have been purchased for the year and assigned to students. We have students who leave campus because of different class schedules, so they may not be parked in the spot 1st period, but they need their spot to be available to them when they return to campus. Students, if someone is parked in your spot, please scan the QR code that is on the signs in the parking lot and report it there.
  • Afternoon Carpool is only on one side of campus. Please only use the entrance by Building A. Please help us keep afternoon pickup running smoothly. No cars should be driving up Panther Drive (the stadium side of campus) during dismissal. We are doing our best to get all buses off of campus and on to their next routs as fast as possible and this side of campus is strictly for our special education bus traffic and where we are directing students out of the student lot.
  • Visitors to campus: Please park in the visitors parking spots located in the second lot on the left when you are on Panther Drive or in the Visitor Spaces in front of Building A. If you park in a numbered spot, please inform us when you check in. ALL VISITORS MUST CHECK IN AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE BEFORE ENTERING THE SCHOOL.

Georgia Milestones/ End-of-Course Assessments

We are preparing for the Georgia Milestones / End-of-Course Assessments (EOCs). Students enrolled in the courses below will take the required EOC.

The Georgia Milestones are administered at the end of an EOC course to provide information about the student’s achievement in the course. These are state required assessments. For EOCs, the test contributes to a percentage of the student’s final grade in the course. Our EOC courses are Biology, Algebra: Concepts and Connections, Literature and Composition II, and U.S. History.

For more information please visit Georgia DOE – Milestones.

We ask that you speak to your student about the importance of Academic Honesty. We want to ensure that students complete their assessments with integrity by not using unauthorized technology or resources.

  • EOCs will be given online.
  • Students must bring their GCPS issued Chromebook (charged) and a charger.
  • Please be sure to attend school and be on time for school for these testing days.
