Principal Update 4/14/25
Good Morning Memorial Families,
We have wrapped up the first round of MCAS testing. Thank you, families, for strong attendance and ensuring your students we ready to put forth their very best effort. We were very pleased, both in the regular sessions as well as the make up sessions, with the effort that students put into the assessments. One third grader, who was working into the afternoon on day two, asked me if MCAS was supposed to be hard. I told him it is supposed to look very similar to what he does in class every day. He told me that he had expected it to be much harder, but was relieved that it WAS, in fact, very much like what he is asked to do in class. This is exactly what we hope for, and my hope is that your third and fourth graders shared similar comments with you after they completed the tests.
This week we will have two in school enrichment programs; Potato Hill Poetry with Andrew Greene in first grade and Forces and Motion Workshops with Acton Discovery Museum in second grade. Thank you to our PTO for funding these opportunities for our students. Without the support of the PTO, enhancements to the curriculum would be much more difficult to provide our students. Thank you to our families for all that you have done to support our students this year through fundraising, which has made events such as these possible.
Final Reminder Regarding Class Placement: If you have anything pertinent to share with our staff as we think about next year's class placement, please use this form. Please do not send an email directly to the teacher or to myself, as we try to compile everything into one place for easy access when we are developing our class lists.
Have a terrific week!
Warmly,
Wendy
