School pictures at WMS will be taken by Halverson Photography on Tuesday, September 1st during the school day. We ask that all students have a picture taken, even if they aren't purchasing any so that we have a photo of each student for the yearbook.

Paper order forms have been sent home with the students. The paper order form and payment should be turned in on picture day at the time the student gets their picture taken. If a paper form doesn't make it home or you need another one, they are located in the office. You can also order online. A link to order online can be found here or scan the QR code!

EMPATHY is our CKH focus work for the months of August AND September. We will focus on different lessons throughout the month in our morning homeroom groups.

What is Empathy?

Empathy is the ability to be aware of, understand, and be sensitive to another person’s feelings. Instead of focusing on how these feelings impact ourselves, empathy motivates us to focus on others and respond with care and compassion.

Why Focus on Empathy?

  • Empathy builds positive classroom culture. Empathy empowers students to learn to understand each other to build trust and safety in the classroom.

  • Empathy strengthens the community. Empathy helps students strengthen their relationships with classmates, other students and adults at school, and at home.

  • Empathy prepares your students to be leaders in their community. The best leaders understand the people they lead and are able to show they care.

Empathy In Action:

  • Take a different perspective. When you take a different perspective, you put aside your own feelings and reactions to see the situation through another’s eyes.

  • Put aside judgment. Take a pause and rather than express conclusions about a situation based on what you see, step back and consider other things you may still need to know or understand.

  • Communicate that you understand. Instead of giving advice, respond with reflective phrases like, “It sounds like you...” or “I hear that you...” to express that you understand and care.

NESTT NESTT

A note from Mrs. Farmer:

The NESTT (Navigating Emotions and Stress Through Training) is a safe place for students to go when they are feeling overwhelmed. NESTT serves to help students in that RIGHT

NOW moment. The skills, services, and support of the NESTT are backed by research rooted in trauma-informed practice to create a safe space for ALL students and a trauma-sensitive school experience. Examples of services include: Providing students with the support of trained professionals within the school building by teaching specific skills and coping strategies. The NESTT services are available by walk-in or appointment during school hours.

I’m excited to provide monthly skills that would help at home!

Mrs. Farmer

Educational Resources Educational Resources

Students use the following websites here at WMS... Check them out!

PowerSchool Student Login

(parent login is the same link, login is just at the top)

Students check their grades on a weekly basis to see how they are doing and if they are missing any work. Parents should log in periodically as well to see how their child is doing.

Schoology Student Login

Teachers post their daily schedule, any links to websites, videos or assignments, resources and information students need to know about each of their classes. If a student is absent, Schoology is a great place to look to see what they have missed.

IXL

IXL Learning is an online program where students can gain fluency and confidence with essential math, language arts, social studies, and science skills through fun and interactive questions and built-in support. It's adaptive, comprehensive, aligned, and accessible! Students know their usernames and passwords. If they go through Classlink on their Chromes, it'll take them right to it.
