NB Friday Update
NB's Weekly Newsletter - 4/17/26
Important to Know:
Please see below for more information about upcoming school and district events, especially the information about next week's book fair and the upcoming Yankees baseball raffle to benefit the new preschool playground.
**Please note that pets are not permitted on school district grounds during the regular school day or when students are present for activities.**
**As the weather gets warmer, students are playing more outside--which we love! Please be sure that students are coming to school with sneakers so they can run around at recess and in gym class. Slides, crocs, etc are not safe for the intensity in which many students play outside. Unfortunately if students are not wearing safe shoes, they will not be able to fully participate in recess. Thank you for your help with this!**

Yankees Autographed Baseball Raffle - To support the inclusive preschool playground
Exciting community efforts are underway to bring a new, inclusive playground to Pequannock Township! Housed at North Boulevard Elementary School, this playground is designed for our community’s youngest learners of all abilities. It will provide inclusive, stimulating, age-appropriate equipment in an environment where all children can play, learn, and grow together.
To support this project, the North Boulevard HSA is raffling off three signed New York Yankees baseballs from players including Mariano Rivera, Anthony Volpe and Gerrit Cole. This is a ‘must-have’ item for any baseball fan and a creative way for our community to support this project (with the chance of winning something too)!

Watch out for ticks this spring.....Tick awareness month is almost here.....May is Tick Month
Black legged ticks (deer tick); Lone Star ticks, American Dog ticks are all found in NJ and can transmit a variety of different diseases.
The black legged tick must be attached for typically 36-48 hours to transmit disease such as Lyme. Watch for flu-like symptoms that can occur from 3-30 days.
Antibiotics are the treatment for Lyme Disease.
PREVENTION:
- Ticks like woods, high grass, so stay on the path
- Use EPA insect spray for clothes and skin---follow directions for application
- Do body checks when coming inside---scalp, behind ears, under arms, waist, back, between legs, back of knees, ankles are all spots to check
- Shower as soon as possible after being outdoors in areas that ticks habitat
- Light clothes help detect a tick easier--an adult is the size of a sesame seed and a nymph the size of a poppy seed
- Long pants and long sleeves when hiking in woods

Free and Reduced Lunch Reminder
Any families that might benefit from free and reduced lunch are encouraged to check out the district’s website and consider applying. If you qualified last year, please be sure to apply again this year as the program requires annual updates. Also, some families might also qualify under the New Jersey Expanded Income Eligibility (NJEIE) program. Students will receive lunches identical to those of their peers and their information remains confidential.
Ambassadors
Fourth grade Ambassadors work hard to make our school and their community a better place. If you'd like to keep up with their work, take a peek at their website.
